In November 2014, Columbia University’s Office of the Provost launched a Request for Proposals (RFP) inviting faculty to apply for “funding to support redesign and delivery of courses using innovative, technology-rich pedagogy and learning strategies.” Faculty who received grants—16 in total—are working with CCNMTL to implement their designs. With these projects, CCNMTL is the centralized resource for support with content development, instructional design, media production, systems integration, assessment and project management.
In February of 2015, the Office of the Provost released a second RFP to invite another round of faculty innovators to participate in this initiative. A key goal of this effort is to measure the effectiveness of Blended, or “Hybrid,” learning strategies at Columbia University with students from all disciplines.
